Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Well, being part Irish myself, I couldn't let Saint Patrick's Day pass by without a commemorative post!  I don't have time for much, but I'll share some wonderful Irish tunes with you that I have really enjoyed.  First, some recordings from Judy Garland, Deanna Durbin, Nelson Eddy, Dennis Morgan, and Bing Crosby.  Then, some modern recordings from Celtic Thunder and The High Kings.  Enjoy!

Judy Garland - "It's a Great Day for the Irish" (from "Little Nelly Kelly")

Deanna Durbin - "Danny Boy" (from "Because of Him")

Nelson Eddy - "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" (from "Let Freedom Ring")

Dennis Morgan - "A Little Bit of Heaven" (from "My Wild Irish Rose")

Dennis Morgan - "Dear Old Donegal" (from "My Wild Irish Rose")

Bing Crosby - "Top O' the Mornin'"

Bing Crosby - "MacNamara's Band"

Bing Crosby - "Who Threw the Overalls in Mrs.'s Murphy's Chowder?"

Celtic Thunder - "Ireland's Call"

Celtic Thunder - "Heartland"

Celtic Thunder - "Caledonia"

The High Kings - The Rocky Road to Dublin

The High Kings - "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore"

The High Kings - "The Parting Glass"

GAELIC BLESSING

May the roads rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

IRISH PRAYER

You’ve blessed me with friends
and laughter and fun
With rain that’s as soft
as the light from the sun-
You’ve blessed me with the stars
to brighten each night
You’ve give me help
to know wrong from right
You’ve give me so much
please, Lord give me too
A heart that is always
Grateful to you.

FROM THE BREASTPLATE OF SAINT PATRICK

Christ be with me, Christ be within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger
Christ in hearts of all that love me
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
